NumThink is an independent, free educational project built on one idea: mental math is not about memorizing hundreds of tricks — it's about recognizing patterns and choosing an efficient method.
Our editorial standards
- Math must be correct. Every example and every generated question is verified programmatically — the practice engine independently recomputes each answer using a separate, checked arithmetic path before it reaches your screen.
- No fake promises. We don't claim "secret" tricks or overnight genius. Mental math is a learnable skill built with practice.
- When to use — and when not to. Every method page includes the situations where the method is the wrong tool.
- Reviewed content. Each page lists its last review date. Corrections are welcome at any time.
How the site works
All practice questions are generated in your browser by a small, open, deterministic math engine. Nothing you do here is sent to a server: your scores and streaks are stored locally on your device only.
Why free?
The site is static, fast, and cheap to run, so it can stay free. Teachers may freely print worksheets for classroom use.
